25 Years of EPCC Excellence. One Integrated Business.

Our Story

SPEC was founded in 2000 with a thesis that most contractors are not built to test: that genuine process performance responsibility — not just build-to-drawing execution — is the standard that oil and gas clients actually need. In the early years, SPEC operated as a process OEM integrator, designing and delivering integrated process units and packages with full accountability for how the process performed. This is a meaningfully different starting point from a fabrication shop or a pure engineering house: it requires understanding the technology, not just the drawings.

From that process OEM foundation, SPEC evolved deliberately into a full EPCC main contractor. Project by project, we expanded our scope — adding engineering management, procurement, self-performed construction, and commissioning to the integrated process capability we had built. Each step was earned on actual projects, not acquired through acquisition. By the mid-2000s, SPEC was executing complete EPCC scopes for upstream oil and gas clients across Sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East.

Today, SPEC employs over 6,000 professionals globally and has delivered projects in more than 36 countries. Our portfolio spans early production facilities in frontier environments, gas processing complexes, downstream refinery units using licensed process technology, and long-term O&M contracts for operating facilities. Our manufacturing facilities in the UAE, China, and Pakistan support SPEC’s EPCC projects, providing direct control over quality and delivery of fabricated equipment.

We are an EPCC contractor built on process engineering accountability. That is what we were founded on, and it is what distinguishes us today.

Our Vision

To be the EPCC contractor of choice for IOCs and NOCs executing complex energy projects in emerging and frontier markets.

Our Mission

To deliver complex EPCC projects safely, reliably, and within budget — through integrated engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning capability — protecting our clients’ investments and enhancing the performance of their assets.

Our Values

Safety First

No task is so important that it cannot be done safely. We empower every member of our team to stop work when conditions are unsafe, and we hold our leadership accountable for the safety culture on every site and in every office.

Technical Excellence

We bring rigorous engineering discipline to every project. From the first conceptual sketch through commissioning and startup, we hold ourselves to the standard that our clients expect from a contractor trusted with their capital investment.

Integrity

We say what we will do, and we do what we said. When challenges arise — and they always do on complex EPCC projects — SPEC’s response is transparency, accountability, and problem-solving, not deflection.

Partnership

The best EPCC projects happen when the contractor and client work as genuine partners. We invest in understanding our clients’ commercial and operational objectives and we align our performance with their outcomes, not just our own contract terms.

Continuous Improvement

Twenty-five years of project execution has taught us that there is always a better way. We actively capture lessons learned, invest in the development of our people, and apply emerging technologies and processes where they genuinely improve project outcomes.

Global Perspective, Local Commitment

SPEC operates in 36+ countries and we understand that each one is different. We respect local cultures, prioritize local content development, and build the relationships that allow us to be trusted partners in each of the communities where we work.
