Project Development

Project Development

At SPEC, every project starts with a clear vision, to design, build, and de-risk energy infrastructure projects that deliver performance and reliability. With decades of experience in engineering and construction, we help clients transform concepts into fully defined, executable projects.

Our vertically integrated expertise covers the full asset and project lifecycle, from new builds and operational improvements to late-life asset support and decommissioning. Across upstream, downstream, and renewable developments, we bring the same focus on safety, quality, and long-term value.

Feasibility & Concept Studies

At SPEC, our feasibility and concept engineering studies are designed to deliver the optimum solution for each client’s specific requirements while accurately defining the techno-commercial viability of every development.

With a strong background in the oil and gas sector, we bring a deep understanding of various field development methods, helping clients evaluate options through a structured and reliable screening process.

We rely on a combination of commercially available, vendor-supplied, and in-house developed modeling tools to simulate and analyze multiple development scenarios. These tools allow us to explore plant design options and prepare cost estimates at the screening stage, effectively minimizing project risk and improving both capital and operational expenditure accuracy.

Each project is approached individually, with technical scenarios developed to reflect hydrocarbon properties, processing schemes, and specific project goals. Cost estimates are further refined based on factors such as plant location, market conditions, infrastructure, labor productivity, and security environments, ensuring realistic and reliable projections.

Our feasibility and concept studies typically include:

  • Steady-State and Dynamic Modelling
  • Flare and Depressurizing Studies
  • Flow Assurance
  • Capex and Opex Calculations

Through this comprehensive approach, SPEC ensures that every project begins with a clear, data-driven foundation, reducing uncertainty and setting the stage for successful execution.

Front-End Engineering Design (FEED)

SPEC’s in-house multi-discipline engineering resources are able to carry out and develop various studies and philosophies for the following disciplines using both commercially available and in-house developed tools which act as platforms for the preparation of tender packages and procurement of long-lead items (LL’s):

  • Process Engineering (static and dynamic simulation, PFD’s and P&ID’s)
  • Mechanical (static and rotating)
  • Instrument Engineering (control systems, field instruments, and metering)
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Metallurgy and Materials Engineering
  • Piping Engineering (including piping layout design, piping stress analysis and materials)
  • Civil Engineering
  • Structural Engineering
  • Risk, Safety, and Environmental Engineering
  • Pipeline Engineering
